Marius Pontmercy is a young man from 1830s Paris. Newly married, newly reentering a life of bourgeois respectability after spending several years living off his writing (and help from friends) while studying law. Oh, and (relatively) newly recovered from a near-death experience on a barricade. From close enough, one can see scars along his forehead, the only immediately visible sign of injury.

He dresses soberly, tending to dark colors, in a manner which is entirely acceptable but far from sharply fashionable for the mid-1830s. His author says he is handsome, at least by 19th century French standards, but he is entirely unaware of that.

He is hopelessly, painfully awkward. Apologies to all in advance.

Marius is from Victor Hugo's Les Misérables, drawing specifically from the canon of the book rather than other adaptations. Among other things, this means he has never been a member of the Friends of the ABC, though he is friendly with some of them and, of course, fought beside them.

He appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in [community profile] milliways_bar, from which no profit whatsoever is being made.
